In gynecologic procedures, Harmonic® devices allow for safer dissection near vital structures compared to electrocautery, as well as increased efficiency due to multifunctionality--the devices are able to grasp, cut, coagulate, and dissect. Coaptive coagulation of vessels is also achieved. The cavitational effect aids in dissection of the tissue planes.
